You've found us! We are the original 1960s all-girl band from Chicago, Illinois. Starting out as a garage band, we became recording artists and performers whose fan base has remained loyal since 1965. We appreciate you and hope you enjoy our site. Please take a moment to drop us a line.
We were unique, as an all-girl band who actually played our own musical instruments and sang on them. Typically, girl singers were backed by male musicians. We were pioneers then! Thanks to Chicago music historian Joseph Pytel for creating this video memory!
"I recall my dad and I discussing a name for the band in the kitchen of our house, and somehow we came up with the Daughters Of Eve. Everyone liked it. We rehearsed once in the gymnasium of my dad's church. He was a Lutheran minister on the north side of Chicago, and later managed my brother's blues/rock band, the Dirty Wurds. They were also very popular in the '60s. Our dad was a cool dude. We rehearsed most often in Marsha's basement!" - Debi Pomeroy Special thanks to music historian Joseph Pytel, Jr. for creating this video memory!
Carl Bonafede had a great ear for what could be a radio hit. The song "She Cried" had been successful for Jay and the Americans, and the Shangri-La's changed the words to "He Cried" and had a great song. So, Carl Bonafede had us record it and it was released on Dan Belloc's Spectra Sound Label. We were fortunate to have the great Ron Malo as the engineer on this song, and many of our Daughters of Eve songs.
